I undertake part time roles as a non exec director or non exec chairman. I have over forty years experience of board rooms around the world. I specialize in Economics, Strategy and Financial Markets with extensive experience of business modelling and corporate governance. My experience would be particularly relevant to businesses of any size, public or private without any specific sector bias.
Until October 2018, my principal job was that of Chief Executive of pro.manchester. I was appointed as CEO of pro-manchester in October 2009. I enjoyed nine years in the role. During that time, I worked with a close team of senior managers, to transform pro-manchester from a loss making, members organization, dependent on public sector funding, into a profitable, professional B2B company, private sector funded, with an outstanding reputation for events, marketing and business development.
I have been involved in business in some way or other for over forty years. I have extensive executive & non executive director experience of SME and large businesses in the UK and internationally. I have worked in family owned, institutionally owned, private and public companies. I have worked in corporate finance and corporate development, creating models and profiles for acquisition targets.
I have led on over 50 corporate finance transactions including a $1 billion US deal in 1987. I have worked with First Boston, Bain & Co, Samuel Montagu, Goldman Sachs and many more. In the 1980's we developed the Coloroll Group from a small family owned business to an international public company. Revenues increased from £6 million to over £600 million in twelve years,
I have experience of public and private sectors, I have served on the Board of Marketing Manchester, the AGMA Business Leadership Council, the Council of Manchester Business School, the Board of Inward, the President's Council of Business in the Community and the President's Council of the CBI.
I was founding Chairman of the North West Business Leadership Team, a Granada Telethon Trustee and a School Governor. I was Chief Economist GM Chamber of Commerce 2013 - 2015.
I have extensive experience of working in complex board room environments demanding a high degree of corporate governance. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Companion of The British Institute of Management and a member of the Society of Business Economists. I have a PhD in economics.
