The Coloroll Story ...

Coloroll was a very important part of my business life. I joined the private, family business in September of 1978. I became Managing Director within a year.

Within twelve years, sales increased from £6 million to £600 million. The average return on sales during the period was over 10%.
In 1980, the family did an institutional placing for 10% of the equity with Flemings. I was appointed as CEO.

Two years later the business was sold to an institutional consortium led by Flemings. In 1985, the company "went public" I became Chairman and Chief Executive. Then followed a series of acquisitions and a meteoric rise in the share price.
The video is of a presentation I made for Winning Pitch almost eight years ago. It was the first and only time I have made a public presentation, or indeed spoken about my time with the company since resigning in January of 1990 some six months prior to the demise of the PLC.
